Ascot Laboratories Ltd. is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2045 for Scope 1 and 2 emissions in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Net-Zero Standard.
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
.
Ascot Laboratories has several ongoing initiatives including the development of warehouse and fleet management strategies to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions in line with Net zero ambitions.
.
To reduce direct (Scope 1) carbon emissions, Ascot Laboratories Ltd has transitioned most of the fleet from petrol and diesel vehicles to fully electric vehicles (EVs). This change eliminates emissions from company-owned transport, significantly reducing our operational carbon footprint. The switch to EVs also supports cleaner air around healthcare facilities and demonstrates our commitment to sustainable, low-carbon operations. Charging infrastructure has been installed across the site to support efficient vehicle use and promote long-term sustainability.
.
Ascot Laboratories Ltd has implemented an Air Handling Unit (AHU) with a double plate heat recovery system to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. This system captures heat from exhaust air and transfers it to incoming fresh air, minimising the energy required for heating or cooling. By recovering waste heat, the AHU reduces electricity and fuel consumption, lowers Scope 2 emissions, and supports our broader net zero commitment by optimising building energy use in a sustainable, cost-effective way.
Ascot Laboratories Ltd is planning to introduce a wastewater heat recovery system to capture thermal energy from outgoing wastewater streams. This recovered heat will be used to preheat incoming water for processes and building heating, reducing the energy demand from conventional heating systems. By lowering electricity and fuel consumption, this system helps decrease Scope 2 emissions and supports our net zero commitment by improving overall energy efficiency and sustainability across our operations.
To reduce indirect carbon emissions from purchased electricity, Ascot Laboratories Ltd plans to transition to renewable energy sources, including the installation of on-site solar panels and the procurement of green electricity from certified renewable suppliers. Energy efficiency measures, such as LED lighting upgrades, smart building controls, and optimised HVAC systems, will complement this transition. These initiatives aim to lower electricity consumption, reduce emissions associated with grid power, and support the organisation’s broader carbon reduction targets.
.
Ascot Laboratories currently sets waste reduction targets across its operations which has resulted in the organisation recycling up to 60% of its waste. We are continuing to work with our service centre teams to increase recycling and reduce single-use plastic.
.
As part of ongoing sustainability efforts, Ascot Laboratories Ltd plans to expand its on-site renewable energy generation and energy efficiency programs. This includes:
